Keir Starmer’s proposed immigration policy reforms are inadequate and fail to address the most pressing threat to our national security: illegal immigration.
While his focus on legal migration tweaks such as English language requirements and longer routes to settled status might sound tough ( as tough as they will ever be from labour ) , they are a distraction from the real issue.
The vast majority of the British public is concerned not with vetted, lawful immigration, but with unchecked illegal entry, particularly through small boat crossings and other clandestine means. These illegal routes bypass our vetting processes, strain public services, and present security risks that no amount of paperwork for legal applicants can fix.
Labour's measures do not include decisive action to stop or reverse illegal migration, nor do they offer credible solutions for detaining and deporting those who arrive unlawfully. These are the policies that truly matter if we are to regain control of our borders and national security.
Only Reform UK have pledged to detain and deport illegal entrants. Without this, Britain will continue to be seen as a soft target, encouraging further abuse of the system. The real solution to the immigration crisis is not to punish those who follow the rules, but to enforce the law ruthlessly against those who break it.
Labour knows it’s losing ground to Reform UK,,
The British people aren’t fooled by weak gestures and hollow promises.
